Billie Eilish breaks Oscars record
Billie Eilish broke the Oscars record for best original song, What Was I Made For?, which was specifically created for the Barbie movie. She became the youngest person in history to win two Oscars!
Both Billie and her brother, Finneas, wrote the song together, which became the only win of eight nominations the film received. She won her first Oscar for Best Original Song in 2022, for No Time to Die.
After getting her nomination, the singer said her friend text her saying she’s “halfway to an EGOT” if she wins, but Billie didn’t hold back. She told Extra TV: “Girl, I have one. I love you baby girl, but I have one.”
Behind-the-scenes clip says it all
While Billie waited for her Oscars statuette to be engraved, she looks to her right and smiles at fellow celebrities. She then makes a serious face, before receiving the engraved trophy.
Holding the statuette in her hands, Billie lick her lips and gives herself the sweetest little smile, looking genuinely proud of herself and having the quickest moment alone.
Before she even won the award, the singer said it would be “kind of crazy” to take the win, before sharing her “ambitious” plans to score a Tony and an Emmy at some point.
Excitement over Ryan Gosling
Billie said she “doesn’t do stuff for rewards,” explaining how it’s simply “cool to be here” at the Oscars. Finneas went on to say there’s “so many rewards” – including meeting Barbie director Greta Gerwig.
Not only that, but meeting Ryan Gosling at the Oscars was considered a huge reward! Finneas said, “I did get his number, not to brag,” before later adding, “He’s trying to be careful with it.”
Billie then added how they didn’t meet the Barbie actor, who played the role of Ken, until after the film was shot. By the time they wrong the iconic, award-winning song, it was ready to appear in cinema!
