Selena Gomez has spoken out on exactly what it was she was talking about to bestie Taylor Swift in the Golden Globes clip that has gone viral, and it’s apparently not what we first thought. Plus, she’s announced another social media break after all the commotion, but no one’s really too surprised.
The music star went viral during Sunday night’s Golden Globes ceremony after she was ‘caught gossipping’ with Taylor Swift. The internet rushed into speculation, thinking she claimed Kylie Jenner didn’t let her take a picture with Timothee Chalamet, but Selena Gomez insists that wasn’t the tea she was spilling.

As the ‘news’ went viral on Instagram, Gomez took to a post by E! News, denying the rumors, as she wrote: “Noooooo I told Taylor about two of my friends who hooked up. Not that that’s anyone’s business.”
Although we’re not sure which friends she was talking about, and as the 31-year-old said, it’s really none of our business, the internet developed a whole different story, from lipreading.
The most common theory circulating the web was that the Disney alum told Taylor Swift she asked for a picture with ‘him’ but ‘she’ said no, believed to be in reference to Timothee Chalamet and Kylie Jenner. Keleigh Sperry was thought to have mouthed “Timothee?” when Gomez nodded her head.
But it looks like she’s cleared all this up now, and Chalamet has also denied a feud between Kylie and Selena.
The Wonka star told a TMZ pap his girlfriend has “no beef” with Gomez, and he himself was cool with his co-star, who he starred alongside in the 2019 movie, A Rainy Day in New York.
The online drama and speculation obviously got too much for the star, who announced yet another ‘break’ from social media.
Taking to her Instagram story, the Only Murderers in the Building star posted a pic with Benny Blanco, spending time with children, alongside the caption: “I’m off socials for a while. I’m focusing on what really matters.”
However, it’s not the first time the star has announced a break from the online world. Most recently, taking a break at the end of October, only to be back just a week later.
Of course, this led to a discussion on X, formerly known as Twitter, and fans did not hold back.
“Okay talk to you tomorrow girl,” joked one.
“I feel like I see this headline every week,” wrote another.
A third laughed: “Actually she’s kinda real asf cuz I’ve also been on like 7 social media break in the last 3 months.”
One even went as far as to claim: “She’ll be back in like an hour.”
We guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
