The Pogues’ Shane Macgowan has been fighting illness for ‘several months’

Sadly, Shane MacGowan has been in an out of hospital with his condition. Although, it’s not clear if he’s been receiving care for several months since his last hospital dash in the summer. His wife Victoria has kept some matters private. But fans do know he’s currently receiving treatment as the festive period inches closer.

In an emotional message to fans, 57-year-old Victoria said that “love can feel painful.”

“Love is the most beautiful and powerful thing that we can experience as humans, but love can also feel painful especially if you are afraid of losing a person or anything else that you love. The really, really big challenge that we all face is to go beyond what our minds think are the limits of love and what love really is,” she said.

“A lot of the time that thing we call love can more accurately be described as attachment or desire or need or longing or closeness or connection. And all of these are totally valuable and human and we need to acknowledge and appreciate and accept every part of our experience.

“You can’t imagine life without this person that you love.”

She concluded: “It’s in these moments when you are staring into the abyss that you have an opportunity to expand your consciousness beyond the limitations of your mind. You have an opportunity to discover more of who you really are and more of who your soul really is and more of your connection with this person who you love.”

Celebrity friends have visited the star

The Fairytale of New York singer has received many visits from famous faces as well as well-wishes from others. The latest was from Irish singer-songwriter Imelda May who the celebrity’s wife, Victoria, said he was “so happy” to see as she shared a snap of the pair.

“Shane is so happy to see Imelda!!” Victoria in the caption of the post, in which the pair can be seen smiling as they share a sweet moment.
